Communication

A key part of being an administrator is communicating with the people on your system. This part’s all about using the right tool for the right job.

In Elvanto, there are three main ways of communicating with the people in your system.

Posts

Posts work similarly to posts on any social media site. They appear on the home page in the member area, and can be seen by anyone with the appropriate access permissions.

Posts are awesome for delivering messages to anyone who uses Elvanto a lot. But because many people only check Elvanto periodically (for example, once a week) it can take time for people to get this message.

Email

Emails are a much more immediate way of communicating with your members. You can send emails to individuals or to groups. You can send emails from a template, or you can write your own.

For situations where you just want to send a short message, SMS may be better.

Calendar

For event-specific information, just update the calendar. Elvanto is capable of managing many calendars, but you probably don’t want to show all of them to your members.

To show a calendar in the member area, you just need to make sure that the setting ‘show in Member Area calendar’ is checked.

For a walkthrough on how to do this, visit this page.

Managing calendars

Creating calendars is a super straight-forward. Check out this walkthrough to see how it’s done.

If your calendar already exists as a Google Calendar, you can integrate it to Elvanto. Follow the process on this page to ensure your integration works.

And if you want to see your church calendar with your other calendars, you can subscribe to the calendar using the process on this page.
