How to Create a Family

Introducing new families into Elvanto is a seamless process that enhances organization and connectivity within your community. Whether you're integrating existing individuals into a family unit or establishing an entirely new family, Elvanto provides intuitive tools to streamline the process. Let's get started.

Creating a Family 

  1. To create a family for people who already exist in Elvanto, simply navigate to People > All People > search by individual > go to the ‘Family’ tab within the profile. 
  2. From here, you can select to 'Add New Family Member' or to "Find Family Members' that may potentially already have been added to the system.
  3. Additionally, you can also assign each family member a role. Simply click on the drop down below each name to assign the appropriate role. 

Elvanto Tip

The 'Sibling' relationship in our system specifically pertains to the primary entity and not its children. If you attempt to use this relationship for the primary's children or in conjunction with the check-in feature, it will not function as expected. Please ensure you use it only in the context of the primary relationship to avoid any issues.


Adding new People as Family Members

  1. Click on the ‘Add Family Member’ button on the top right corner of the page.
  2. Once the page loads, select the family role and enter in the person details similar to adding a new person into Elvanto. Click ‘Save’, and the newly added family member should be automatically linked with the family.

Searching for Existing Family Members

  1. First, select the ‘Find Family Members’ button.
  2. Be default Elvanto will search for people with the same last name as the original member. Should a family member have a different last name, simply type the last name in the search bar and the system will display an updated list of potential matches. 
  3. Assign a role to the profile to add the person to the family.

Creating a new Family from People

  1. To add an entirely new family, from the People page, click ‘Add Family’.
  2. Select a People Category to assign to your new family. 
  3. On the next screen, enter the last name and basic contact details for the entire family. 
  4. Once you press the ‘Next’ button, you will then be able to start creating the individual members of the family. Their contact details will by default, be the same as the contact details in the previous screen. The main difference between these screens and the normal ‘Add Person’ screen is the choice for the family relationship at the top of the screen.
  5. Fill in the data for the individual family members one at a time, and you’re good to go!

Creating a new Family from the Check-in Area

  1. During check-in, you can create a family for new members and guests that come on the day of a service. This allows you to add new contacts quickly into the system.
  2. Navigate to Services > Upcoming Services > select 'Check-In' for your current service. To add a new family, from the check-in page select the ‘Add Person or Family’ button.
  3. This will bring up a window where you can select to either add a new member to an existing family, or add an entirely new family. Select the ‘New Family’ option.

  4. From within the window that pops up, enter the details for the new members all at once. Start by adding all family details under 'Add New Family'. Add any individual family members below. Click the green plus button add additional family members.
