By default, users access your account via the custom URL. If you like, you can set up a custom domain to automatically redirect users from outside the software.
Go to Settings in the User Nav and once the page loads click the Layouts link. Edit the Layout you wish to set the CNAME record for.
In the ‘Custom Domain’ heading, enter in the URL you want to use (e.g. volunteers.example.com).
Depending on the DNS host you use, you may be able to add this record yourself, or you may need your host to add it for you. If you are not sure, get in touch with your hosting provider. Keep in mind that it is possible that your web host and your DNS host are different providers.
You will only need to add this CNAME record to your DNS records. For example, if your subdomain name set up for your church is ‘volunteers.example.com’, the CNAME Name would be ‘volunteers’. If you set this up using another subdomain name, then put the subdomain name in place of the CNAME.
|CNAME Name||CNAME Record|
Some DNS services require you to add a period (.) after the address, to make sure the CNAME record is saved for a separate domain name to the one registered for the church. The CNAME record would instead be cname.elvanto.com.
Editing DNS records (including CNAME) can take up to 48 hours to update. If you find that your DNS settings have not been updated after 48 hours, contact our support team to see of what other areas you’ll need to check.
